Marketo Interactive Webinar compatibility

Jeto is not currently able to successfully create Marketo Interactive webinar campaigns. If you create a launcher that is synced with a Marketo Interactive webinar program, the program will get created as a standard Event Program with Webinar, not as a Marketo Interactive webinar program despite the launcher being connected to one.

Furthermore, once the program exists in Marketo it cannot be updated to an Interactive Webinar after the fact. It must be created as such upon program creation. This essentially requires all Marketo Interactive webinars be manually created in Marketo from the start (bypassing Jeto entirely) or recreated entirely after initial submission in Jeto if you want your users to continue to use a single point of campaign entry.

This is a critical function missing for the increasing number of Marketo Interactive webinar users. I would greatly appreciate attention to this idea.

Thanks to everyone who's voted on this.

A few months ago we completed the full fit/gap analysis we mentioned back in October, and I wanted to share where things landed. We held off on posting while we waited to see whether the API would be updated — but we were unable to get confirmation from Marketo's engineers that Interactive Webinars will be supported via API, so we don't want to keep you waiting any longer for an update.

Here's where things landed: we confirmed the root cause is on Marketo's side, not Jeto's. Adobe's own engineering team verified that Marketo's API does not support creating or cloning a program while preserving its Interactive Webinar properties — any program created or cloned through the API reverts to a standard Event with Webinar. This is documented, expected behavior on their end, and it applies to any tool built on the Marketo API. There is no API parameter to designate a program as interactive, and (as noted in the original idea) a program can't be converted to interactive after creation.

For now, that means Interactive Webinar programs need to be created and managed directly in Marketo — this program type can't be driven through Jeto. We know that breaks the single-point-of-entry workflow you're looking for, which is exactly why we're keeping this idea open and have raised the gap with Adobe.

What would help move this forward: if this limitation affects your team, we'd encourage you to raise it with your Adobe account manager. The more Marketo hears directly from customers about the impact, the more likely API support becomes — and customer demand carries weight that a partner request on its own doesn't.

We've also opened a related idea exploring the ability for Jeto to manage existing Marketo programs, which would open up a path here even without new Marketo API support. If that concept is useful to you, please add your vote: JETO-I-277

Full details of our testing and findings are in our knowledge base: "Marketo Interactive Webinars and Jeto: Compatibility Status & Recommended Workflow".

Really appreciate your patience while we dug into this — we'll post here as things progress.

Thanks Danielle for bringing this up. We have seen a similar issue with the new email editor where cloned emails lose certain properties. This could be a Marketo API related Error... We're starting a new sprint and prioritized a Research task to test the integration and conduct a full fit/gap analysis. We will keep you posted on our progress.
